Queens Aim For Cup Glory

Queens are on the verge of a Semi-Final place for the first time in over 50 years as they take on Dundee at Palmerston on Saturday in front of a near 6,000 crowd.

Gordon Chisolm
Gordon Chisolm's men are in confident mood after enjoying a recent run of good form which has hoisted the Doonhamers into fourth place in the SFL.

Chisolm will not be fooled by the number of players unavailable to the Dens Park side due to injuries, suspensions etc. Dundee have a big enough squad to handle this and will be definately be up for this as the big prize is a Hampden semi-final and a huge payday.

Queens report a full strength squad with Captain Jim Thomson back in the fray after suspension. There are however worries about Bob Harris and he has only a 50/50 chance of playing. I would expect Chisolm to field a similar side to last week with Thomson coming back into the side.

If Queens are to win this one we need Tosh and MacFarlane to be on song in the middle of the park with Thomson and his defence concentrating for the full 90 minutes. Dobbie and O'Connor must also put away what chances come our way. The Dees will no doubt bring a big noisy support but I'm sure the Palmy crowd will not let us down and give the boys every encouragement.

I think Dundee will be looking for a replay given their team selection problems but Queens can probably just shade it by the odd goal. It should be a tremendous atmosphere at the old ground so let's hope we are all celebrating tomorrow night.
