Queens can consider themselves unlucky to lose this game as an own goal by Weatherson gifted the points to the Paisley team, giving them a valuable home win which they certainly did not deserve. Saints started off brightly but it was Queens who took the lead through Shields in the 8th minute who calmly rolled the ball into the net after O'Neill had set him up. Queens had the chances to consolidate their lead but poor finishing let us down and St Mirren were allowed back into the game when Cameron swivelled on the corner of the box and sent a spectacular shot into the top corner past Scott who seemed slow to react. As half-time approached Queens should really have been going in with a comfortable lead.
HALF TIME 1-1
The second half was poor fare for the fans yet Queens were the more dominant team but we just could not make that vital breakthrough. The nearest we came was when a great header from Thomson was headed off the line. Everyone was expecting a 1-1 draw when St Mirren gained a corner. The inswinging corner seemed to be heading for the net but Weatherson, back defending helped it on its way. This was a cruel blow to Queens but they have only themselves to blame. This was a game they should have won but didn't and we now have an almighty dogfight with Arbroath at Palmy next week, the outcome of which will surely be a deciding factor on who stays in Division 1.
