Queen of the South cruised to a comfortable victory over Airdrie at Palmerston after the visitors had been reduced to ten when McDonald was sent off for a dangerous tackle.
Stephen Dobbie opened the scoring with a penalty after 35 minutes when keeper Stephen Robertson fouled Burns inside the area.
Airdrie's Kevin McDonald was red carded less than five minutes later for a foul on Neil Scally, before a second-half Bob Harris header doubled the lead.
Dobbie slipped the ball through Robertson's legs to extend Queens' lead after 67 minutes and a late David Weatherston strike completed the rout.
Over the peice and impressive display by Queens although it must be said the visitors were severly hampered by the sending off. Queens can however look forward with confidence to the visit of league leaders St Johnstone to Palmy next Saturday.
Queens MAD man of the match - Martyn Lancaster - What a great signing and he gave a commanding performance at the back.
