Greig Spence scored the only goal of the game as Raith beat 10-man Queen of the South.

Raith dominated in the early stages of the first half and it came as no surprise when they took the lead in the 18th minute when Spence prodded the ball past Doonhamers stopper Calum Antell after good work from midfielder Grant Anderson.

The hosts looked good going forward towards the end of the first period but they were unable to find a way past David McGurn in the Rovers goal who saved from Lyle,Durnan and Carmichael.

Queens continued to draw blanks in the second half with Reilly heading over from close range and their chances of a comeback were ended in the 78th minute when Mark Durnan was shown a straight red card after bringing down Calum Elliot.

Queens dominated for long periods and created a shed load of chances but they are struggling to score goals at this level.

A welcome debut for Queens new signing Kevin Dzierzawski who looked the part in midfield.

The higher tempo on Tuesday will suit Queen against Rangers but unfortunately they will be without Durnan who let himself down with a foolish red card towards the end.
