Queen of the South surrendered top spot in the First Division after falling to a narrow defeat by Raith Rovers.
Raith goalkeeper David McGurn blocked Derek Holmes header in a first half of few chances.
Captain Iain Davidson made a crucial block for the home side after the break to deny Paul Burns. McGurn also continued to deny Queens as he brilliantly tipped over a Holmes drive.
Just as Queens looked to pen the scoring Rovers when Johnny Russell slammed home at the back post following a Mark Ferry's cross which the visiting defence failed to clear.
Queens can consider themselves unfortunate to lose three points as they had their chances in the second half but we must move on to Palmy next week where Airdrie awaits.
Queens MAD Man of the match - Derek Holmes - Led the line well and but for the Raith keeper could have had a couple of goals.
