Queens See Of The Dees To Secure 4th Place

IN THEIR FINAL HOME GAME QUEENS BID FAREWELL TO THEIR ADORING FANS WITH AN EMPHATIC WIN AGAINST DUNDEE WHICH SECURES A FOURTH PLACE IN THE LEAGUE FOR THE DOONHAMERS.

Queens' manager Gordon Chisolm took the opportunity to rest several players but the Doonhamers were too good for a jaded Dees side who had more or less given up the ghost of catching Hamilton Accies.

The Home side dominated from the start and Samson in the Dees goal was a busy man as he kept the eager Doonhamers at bay. O'Connor as usual was the main threat with Cup-Final hero Stewart using his speed to exploit gaps in the away defence. Queens were also looking very solid at the back with Reid outstanding.

It was somewhat of a surprise that it took Queens until 42 minutes to open the scoring with Gilmour shooting high into the net from a delightful cross by the impressive Harris.

The second half was a bit of a stroll for Queens as theY missed a hatful of chances and almost let the Dees in with an equaliser. There was also what looked like a final appearance for John O'Neill who was denied a farewell crack at a penalty when Dobbie was hacked down in the box near the end.

The game ended with the Queens support rising to Chisolm and his team. So our most successful season ever has almost ended and by securing fourth place we can have a party at Dunfermline next week in our fancy dress.

Of course we have an important date next month at Hampden Park when things could get even better.
