It was stalemate at Palmy on Saturday as Queens and Hibernian fought out a rather disappointing draw. The Edinburgh side with a sprinkling of first team players in their midst gave Queens the ideal workout in preparation for the forthcoming hard season. Queens started brightly but the Premier League side were proving hard to break down. McLaughlan had two good chances to put the Doonhamers ahead but was thwarted by an impressive Hibs keeper. At the other end Barnard made a point blank save to prevent the visitors from going ahead. The first half had been a disappointing affair and the fans were hoping for better things in the second half.

Half-Time- Queens 0 Hibernian 0

The second half was much better as both camps introduced their subs. Queens Reid received a nasty injury and had to go off but the Doonhamers were more than holding their own against the Premier side. Towards the last quarter Queens pressed for a winner and there were several near things but the Hibs goal remained intact. Queens also received another blow towards the end when the influential Lovell was carried off. Over the peice it was pretty ordinary fare for the fans but the match was immense value to Queens. Once again we looked very strong at the back with Paton,Wood,Reid,Carr and English doing well. They were also well supported by Barnard in goal. We have loads of optionsin midfield but we still lack a cutting edge up front but they were up against a well organised Hibs defence. The injuries to Reid and Lovell must be of concern especially this early in the season. Carlisle are the visitors on Wednesday evening as Queens continue their build up to the the big kick-off.
