Queens Falter Against Fifers

QUEENS ONCE AGAIN WENT DOWN AGAINST THEIR BOGEY TEAM DUNFERMLINE AT EAST END PARK
.

Despite taking the lead through Stewart Kean, who fired home a deserved opener in a fine first half performance, Queens faltered in the second period to lose 2-1. The Fifers equalised in 53 minutes through Kirk and from then on dominated proceedings. Kirk scored a second in the 68th minute and worse was to come as Andy Aitken was sent off 3 minutes from time. The Doonhamers were also denied what looked like a penalty when Arbuckle felled in the box only to be booked for simulation.

Gary Arbuckle almost snatched an equaliser in injury time but it was not to be and we once again left East End Park pointless.

Sighed a disappointed Gordon Chisholm, "We should have won 1-0 - two bad defensive errors cost us the game. I was happy with the attitude and fight but the referee must have been the only man in the stadium who didn't think it was a penalty when Gary Arbuckle was bundled down in the box. And how we missed that late chance from right under the crossbar I'll never know! We played very well in the first half, went one up and created a lot of chances but over the ninety minutes the major decisions went against us."

With the UEFA tie looming Queens must get this game out of their system as once again we were made to pay for missed chances and ill-discipline. The referee was poor but we cannot blame him this defeat.
