A magnificent Derek Holmes hat-trick fired Queen of the South to the top of the Scottish First Division with a win at Inverness.
Former Caley Thistle striker Dennis Wyness played in Holmes to net a 25-yard volley after only 32 seconds.
Jonny Hayes fired home an angled free-kick from 25 yards to equalise for Inverness after 18 minutes as the Highlanders took control and only desperate defending by the visitors kept the score even at the interval.
Queens brought on Weatherston in the second half and there was an immediate shift in the game as the Doonhamers took the game to their hosts. Holmes connected with a close-range header seven minutes from time and completed his treble in the last minute with a low shot from 12 yards.
A well earned victory for Queens but probably at a heavy cost with McCausland,Harris and Weatherston picking up injuries.
Queens MAD man of the Match - Derek Holmes by a country mile - His hatrick was quite magnificent.
