Queen of the South are now 18 points clear at the top of the Second Division after a 2-1 win over an Stenhousemuir.
The Doonhamers went ahead through Derek Young in the 33rd minute as he turned the ball home following Chris Mitchell's cross.
A second was added in the last minute of the first half. Daniel Carmichael was brought down just outside the area and Mitchell curled the resulting free-kick into the top corner.
The Warriors pulled a goal back two minutes into the second period as Mark Corcoran broke through and slotted home after Higgins failed to clear his lines in the home defence.
Corcoran went close to a leveller with 12 minutes left but his 20-yard effort flew narrowly wide.
But Allan Johnston's side held on to record an eighth win in nine games
A handy three points for Queens who made work for themselves after seemingly cruising but another unfortuante error by Higgins let the Warriors back into the game.
