Graham Bayne's late goal gave Dunfermline a precious victory against promotion rivals Queen of the South.
Dunfermline broke the deadlock after just four minutes when Calum Woods' high cross was headed into the corner of the net by Nick Phinn. Queens struggled to get into the game and with the home defence posted missing the Pars should have added to their tally.
Queens somehow clawed themselves back into the game and levelled when Jamie McQuilken scored from close range after Stewart Kean's cross was only half cleared.
Queens took off the struggling Thomson for the second half and started to come more into the game creating several chances. They however lost the services of Burns who received a nasty ankle injury.
The Doonhamers seemd to have secured a point when disaster struck in the final minutes when
Byrne knocked in the winner as Queens keeper Cammy Bell lay injured after colliding with team-mate Andy Aitken.
No one would have grudged the Pars their win but Queens can consider themselves very unlucky to lose in the final minute. The Doonhamers now have a sair fecht to avoid the playoffs and perhaps relegation.
Queens Mad Man of the Match - Once again Neil Macfarlane stuck to his task as others around him struggled.
