Queen of the South began their Second Division campaign with a comfortable win over Forfar at Palmerston Park.
Derek Lyle put the hosts in front after 32 minutes, collecting a long ball from Kevin Holt which was hoisted into the heart of the Forfar penalty area before firing into the bottom corner.
Nicky Clark could have doubled the advantage two minutes later, but from the right-hand edge of the six-yard box he sent his shot narrowly wide.
The same player then fluffed another excellent close-range opening 17 minutes from the end.
But Gavin Reilly made the game safe in the 88th minute when he met Holt's inviting low cross and fired home from the edge of the six-yard box.
