Second Division champions Queen of the South recorded a second win over Brechin City in the space of four days.
Queens clinched the title in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 win over third-placed City on Wednesday but did not find it as easy this time around.
Mark Durnan headed the Doonhamers in front from Chris Mitchell's 16th-minute corner and that was the way it stayed until 17 minutes from time.
Derek Lyle, who had earlier headed against the post, grabbed the crucial second from another Mitchell corner, converting right-footed into the top corner from 12 yards.
Brechin immediately pulled one back from the penalty spot to set up an interesting finale. Alan Trouten converted after Durnan's foul on Andrew Jackson, but the visitors could not level.
Queens coasted this until they conceded a penalty and put themselves under pressure in the final minutes and eventually finished with 9 men with McKenna and Gibson leaving the field injured.
