QUEENS BLUNDER TO DEFEAT AT FIRHILL
At the end of a week of embarrassment for the Scottish game, anyone still questioning the size of the problems facing the national pastime would have left Firhill in little doubt having watched these two sides bumble and blooter their way through a long 90 minutes.
Both these sides have posted starts to the campaign that smack of a battle against the drop, and there was little on show during an eyewateringly-bad first half to suggest such first impressions will prove wide of the mark.
That Thistle held sway at the interval courtesy of Kris Doolan's finish into an empty net following some Keystone Cops defending by Gus MacPherson's Doonhamers, was a perfect snapshot of the action. .
Mercifully the game improved after the restart. Thistle's Christie Elliott and Queens' Danny Carmichael passed up very presentable openings before Mark Campbell levelled matters heading into another open goal with home keeper Scott Fox in no-man's land.
Queens pressed for long spells, but it was Thistle who grabbed the winner five minutes from time when Elliot atoned for his earlier miss.

A disppointed Gus McPherson said after the match -
"We played poorly in the first half but were still in it at half time.
"In the second half we were the better side by a mile, but I just can`t believe we lost yet another goal so late against the run of play.
"I`m very disappointed not to have taken anything from the game. And to go back home pointless again was infuriating.
"But it`s all down to confidence, and getting that first elusive league win."
