Queens blown off course

QUEENS WERE KNOCKED OFF TOP SPOT IN THE LEAGUE AS THEY CRASH TO BOGEY TEAM MORTON IN BLUSTERY CONDITIONS AT PALMERSTON

The visitors playing wtih the wind were quick out of the traps and took the lead through Brian Graham after 13 minutes.

Queens rallied and both Wyness and McKenna had great chances to equalise before Weatherson made it two with a close range header on 51 minutes.

The Doonhamers tried hard to salvage something from the game but Allan Jenkins made it three from James McAllister's cross on the hour mark.

In a tense final few minutes Barry Wilson reduced the deficit from Stewart Kean's cross and the latter fired home the second. Almost into injury time Wilson almost sneaked a point for Queens but it was not be and Morton ran out deserved winners.

This result was a huge disappointment for the home faithful but Queens decision to kick into the fierce wind in the first have was a crucial factor. Morton took full advantage and ran ragid a Queens defence who had only surrendered one league goal so far this season. Hopefully we can bounce back against Inverness next week and not suffer the same slump as last season.

Queens Mad Man of the Match - Craig ReId - Whilst the rest of the Queens floundered Reid held firm and his dangerous runs upfield should have produced more.
