Champions march on
Irn-Bru Second Division champions Queen of the South recorded a second win over Brechin in the space of four days as they triumphed 2-1.
The runaway leaders clinched the title in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 win over third-placed City on Wednesday night but they did not find it as easy this time around.
Mark Durnan headed the Doonhamers in front from Chris Mitchell's 16th-minute corner and that was the way it stayed until 17 minutes from time, despite Derek Lyle heading against a post.
It was Lyle, however, who grabbed the crucial second from another Mitchell corner, converting right footed into the top corner from 12 yards.
Brechin immediately pulled one back from the penalty spot to set up an interesting finale, Alan Trouten converting after Mark Durnan's foul on Andrew Jackson, but it was not to be for the visitors.
