Queens were unchanged from their previous cup triumph at Greenock and very soon were asking questions of a Perth defence which looked uneasy when O'Connor and Dobbie started making inroads. Queens took the lead on 13 minutes when McQuilken found the corner of the net after some neat play by Dobbie.
Saints almost equalised shortly afterwards when a poor clearance by Thomson resulted in a tremendous goalmouth scramble which the Home defence were lucky to survive. Queens however looked very strong in midfield with Tosh and McFarlane to the fore and were unlucky not to increase their interval lead when O'Connor blasted over from a good poistion. Queens were well worth their half-time lead.
Saints came out fighting in the second-half but Queens kept their shape with Tosh bossing midfield so it was no surprise when O'Connor blasted in a second goal on 54 minutes after marvelous play by Tosh. Saints looked a beaten team at this stage but Jackson gave them hope when he beat MacDonald with a neat lob on 77 minutes to set up an anxious final few minutes for the Home support. O'Connor however put the match beyond doubt on 87 minutes when he squeezed the ball home from close range as the Portland Road end erupted.
The Queens team left the field to a standing ovation after another great team effort. There were several outstanding performances from Queens with O'Connor,Harris and Tosh simply outstanding. Should be another cracker next week when Stirling Albion are the visitors. These are great times to be a Queens supporter.
Queens MAD man of the match - Sean O'Connor - The Saints defence must be sick of the sight of him !
