O'Connor Brace Sinks The Dees

A CRAZY 6 MIN SPELL JUST AFTER THE INTERVAL TURNED THIS GAME ROUND IN FAVOUR OF QUEENS WHICH AFTER THE FIRST HALF SEEMED UNLIKELY

Queens made a bright start but it was the Dees who took the lead on 9 minutes when McMenamin forced the ball home. Dundee then took control of the game with McMenamin and Swankie unlucky to add further goals. Queens however should have equlaised just before the interval when he somehow put the ball inches over from a Harris corner.

Queens looked more lively at the start of the second-half as they pressed for an equaliser and they got one thanks to a blunder by the Dundee keeper Samson. He crashed a clearance against the onrushing O'Connor into his own net. There followed a bizarre few minutes which turned game on it's head in favour of Queens. O'Connor grabbed another goal on 61 minutes and Burns then sent the away support into raptures on 62 minutes when he scored a third.

Dundee were skell-shocked and came back at Queens but the Doonhamers were well organised and held out until the closing minutes when McMenamin scored his second.

This was an unexpected victory for Queens as they fully exploited the shortcomings of the Dundee defence. We are now consolidating our position at business end of the league and with some crucial fixtures coming up in the next few weeks these are indeed exciting times at Palmy.
