Queen of the South came from behind to secure a draw in a bad-tempered clash featuring three red cards with Terry Butcher the Caley manager sent to the stand.
Queens were all over the visitors in the opening minutes and it was entirely against the run of play as Adam Rooney fed Jonny Hayes and he rifled the visitors in front early on. It was a tousy affair on a heavy pitch and Queens were rather unlucky to be goal down at the interval.
Queens laid seige to the Caley goal in the second half as the referee seemed to lose control as the bookings mounted.
Inverness boss Terry Butcher was sent to the stand for protesting a foul on Rooney before Richie Foran was sent off for a second bookable offence.
It looked like Caley were going to hold out for an undeserved draw until Bob Harris's 25-yard free kick restored parity and referee Alan Muir then sent off David Lilley and Russell Duncan after the clashed in the goalmouth.
Both sides had chances to snatch victory in the closing stages but it was not to be and Queens had to be satisfied with a point.
This was a bruising encounter with the referee losing the plot at times with a big physical Inverness team getting away with murder at times.
Queens seem to have lost their scoring touch for the time being and passed up numerous chances which would have gained valuable points.
