Emphatic Win For Queens

A comfortable victory for Queen of the South left Stirling rooted to the bottom of the First Division.

Queens took the lead via a Willie McLaren penalty before Albion equalised through gordon Smith's penalty.

McLaren fired the home side back in front with a low shot into the bottom corner.

And a second-half Colin McMenamin brace sealed what turned into a straightforward victory for the Doonhamers.

Despite a slow start to the game Queens broke the deadlock midway through the first half from the penalty spot.

Stephen Stirling clipped Willie McLaren in the box and the winger got up to take the kick himself and slot the ball past Stirling keeper Scott Christie.

The visitors pulled level through a penalty of their own, however.

David Lilley was punished for a foul on Scott Buist and Gordon Smith kept his effort low to beat Roddy McKenzie in the Queens' goal.

But the home side responded quickly and Christie had to pull off a great save to deny Colin McMenamin.

However, he could do nothing ten minutes before the break when McLaren played a one-two with David Weatherston before driving the ball low across Christie into the bottom corner of the net.

McMenamin wrapped up the points with a double in the second half, his first from 12 yards and then a glancing header with 15 minutes to go.

Queens Mad Man of the Match - Daniel Orsi - Looks a tremendous prospect.
