UPBEAT Dundee gaffer Barry Smith hailed his side despite seeing them humbled in Dumfries.
Former Dens Park front man Colin McMenamin put his old club to the sword, setting up Allan Johnston for the opener with a Paul Burns double setting up a comprensive win for the Doonhamers which secures fourth place in the league..
But Dundee boss Smith chose to look on the bright side after enduring a season from hell that saw them deducted 25 points for entering administration.
As the squad did a lap of honour in front of nearly a thousand cheering fans he said: "They didn't play well here but deserve credit for the season they've had.
"There has been a superb bond between the players and fans."
On-form McMenamin beat two defenders and picked out Johnston to slot home in 18 minutes.
The impressive Burns made it 2-0 six minutes later.
And Doonhamers made it safe on the hour when Burns outjumped the Dundee defence to head in a Bob Harris free-kick.
Queens No.2 Neil Scally said: "It was a tremendous performance."
