Queens shot themselves in the foot as they squandered a great chance to gather three valuable points against a lack lustre County side who quite frankly were there for the taking. The visitors dominated most of the first half but their attempts to find the net were quite pathetic with O'Neill and Weir the worst offenders. The O'Neill miss was the most appallling and it can be viewed in graphic detail on David Gow's video clip on the Queens Official Site. How Jon Jo managed to screw his shot wide is beyond me. Just when a score must surely come County surprisingly took the lead on the 33rd minute when a Hooks header sneaked into the net amidst a tangle of bemused Queens defenders much to the frustration of the large Queens travelling support. Queens were stunned and hammered into the Home side for the rest of the half but with no furher luck in front of goal. County obviously delighted at their good fortune came more into the game at the start of the second half but the Queens defence with Thomson outstanding held firm. It now became a desperate struggle for the points with County hanging in and resorting to some dubious tactics as Queens looked for an equaliser. The Home side were reduced to ten men late on when Scott got an early bath for stamping. Queens manger McCall replaced both his strikers in an attempt to turn the game but despite some near things County hung on for a rather flattering win. Despite the result this was a rousing display by Queens who were the better team by a mile but you must score goals to win games and unless this problem is addressed soon we will be facing the 2nd Division next season.
