QUEENS HEAD FOR THIRD SPOT

Such is the competetive nature of this league that Queens although mathematically still not safe from relegation head for Paisley tomorrow in search of points which could ensure them a third place spot. The third spot is presently occupied by their hosts St Mirren who under the shrewd guidance of Gus McPherson will fancy at least a draw against the Doonhamers who will again be without Jim Thomson and Alex Williams. Recent games between the teams at Love Street have produced their fair share of goals and I expect the same tomorrow with Queens giving a good account of themselves.

History of the St. Mirren v Queen of the South fixture

Queen o.t.S. face a trip to St. Mirren at St Mirren Park on Saturday afternoon, needing to turn around their fortunes at the ground. The The Doonhamers will be hoping to improve upon a record which has seen them lose 24 and win only 9 of the 40 games.

The most recent encounter between these two sides was earlier this season, where the two teams cancelled each other out in an enthralling 2 - 2 draw in a Scottish Division One match.

Recent respective form guides

St. Mirren are unbeaten in their last six home games, but have drawn three of them. The Buddies have scored 9 and conceded 2 during this period.

The The Doonhamers have had a decent run of form away from home recently, with 3 victories and just 1 loss from the last six. The The Doonhamers's have a narrow positive goal difference over these games, with 6 goals for and 5 against.

St. Mirren are just outside the promotion places, in 3rd, having taken 47 points from 31 games. Queen o.t.S.'s 43 points from 31 games sees them lie inside the top half of the table, in 4th position.
