GAVIN REILLY climbed off the bench to resurrect Queens' survival hopes with a late goal on Saturday at Palmerston
The teenager teamed up with fellow sub Kevin Smith to fire home eight minutes from time to move the basement boys within two points of fellow strugglers Raith.
And relieved boss Gus MacPherson said: "We stressed before the game that by hook or by crook we had to win. It was always going to be a one-goal game, either by a mistake or a great goal and we got the latter.
"It's an excellent strike from young Gavin - he showed great composure to finish from that area."
Raith boss John McGlynn said: "There wasn't much in it. I thought we defended fairly well but it was a typical First Division game where there's a thin line between drawing and losing.
"If Ally Walker's shot goes in maybe we win it but their goalie's made a good save to tip it on to the post."
