The Standard has picked out a few key players likely to be in the running for a place in the Hall of Fame.
Jim Patterson – Jim signed for Queens in 1949 and is the club’s all-time top goalscorer with 251 finishes to his name.
Allan Ball – The shot-stopper has made the most appearances in a Queens shirt. The incredible 731 games are unlikely ever to be matched, cementing his status as a true legend. Ball was handed the title of Honorary Director in 2001.
Tommy Bryce – The forward has gone down in history world-wide as scoring the fastest-ever hat-trick. Bryce’s quick-fire strikes in 1 minute and 46 seconds earned him a place in the Guiness Book of Records.
Iain McChesney – McChesney has given longer service to Queen of the South as a footballer than any other player in the club’s history. After hanging up his boots, he has continued to serve the club in a variety of roles.
Andy Thomson – Goal machine Andy Thomson netted 114 goals during two spells at the club. Queens sold him to Southend for £250,000, which remains a club record.
Jim Thomson – The ex-Queens captain made 358 appearances for the Doonhamers and will be most remembered for his famous header against Rangers in the 2008 Scottish Cup Final.
Billy Houliston – Billy Houliston is the only player to have gained full international recognition with Scotland while at Queens. As well as three full caps, he was capped nine times at different levels for Scotland scoring eight goals.
A Committee has already chosen Jim Patterson,Alan Ball and Billy Houliston so the public are invited to vote for the final 2 inductees.
