THOMAS THE TANKS ENGINE IS A QUEENS FAN

The Queens Action Group produced a stunning entry for the Guid Nychburris Day pageant in Dumfries yesterday and took the Third prize but many observers thought it should have been First. The float took the theme of the Queens anthem The RAILWAY LINE and a superb replica of Thomas the Tank Engine was built in blue livery coming out of a tunnel. A little signal box was also built which housed well known music guru and Queens fanatic Alec Wislon along with his sound equipment which blasted out Steam Engine sounds mixed with some well known football anthems. Terry Cullen another Queens daft person took over as the Fat Controller appropriately rigged out with Black Tail Coat,Top Hat and yellow waistcoat.

Despite the appalling weather, huge crowds turned out to watch the vehicle pageant and members of the Queens Action Group, who were absolutely drenched handed out Queens Goodie bags to the children. Following the Queens float there were several vehicles/tractors driven by Kevin the Queens groundsman and coaches featuring the Queens Youth Teams who were very successful in the recent Football Tournament at Ayr. It was a hugely successful PR exercise for Queens and there was a terrific response from the crowds who were delighted to see their AIN TEAM being represented on the streets of Dumfries.

Ross Corbett and the rest of the Queens Action Group take great credit for all their efforts and many enjoyed a few drinks and something to eat at Palmy later despite being a bit cold and soggy.

There follows a selection of images which I took during the pageant and I apologise for the quality but the conditions were absolutely appalling. Please also feel free to copy/download for your personal use.
