DEFIANT David Rae last night insisted Queen of South will survive - despite revealing the extent of their crippling problems at this week's stormy AGM....reports Daily Record
The Dumfries chief faced down angry punters after telling them the First Division club owed around £250,000 to creditors and were in talks with the taxman over a £100,000 debt.
Rae also admitted losses are set to be around £300,000 this year as fans turned on him during a meeting with shareholders.
But last night he urged the supporters to play their part by coming back to Palmerston in their numbers.
Rae, who was re-elected as chairman at the AGM, said: "We faced criticism the other night but that was expected.
"We need to get things sorted out but it's going to take a fair bit of time. These are difficult times throughout football.
"We have to address it and cuts must be made. But that's going to happen at a host of clubs.
"I've spoken to other chairmen and they are also talking about dramatic cuts. We haven't decided what's needed but will consider all our options.
"It's going to be a case of pruning right across the board. We have to be realists to sustain ourselves in the future but I'm confident we will.
"The fans are frustrated and I can understand that. But we need to get people back watching us as our fanbase has dropped quite badly this season.
"We're doing well on the pitch and are safe in this division. I'd like to think the fans will come back."
