Queens Triumph In County Tyrone
Last updated : 12 July 2010 By Queens MAD
Queens enjoyed a comfortable victory over IFA Premiership team Dungannon Swifts at a rather soggy Stangmore Park.
Queens were roared on by a healthy travelling support of around 100 fans whose vocal chords had been well lubricated by countless pints of Guiness consumed on the early morning ferry crossing from Stranraer.
Queens feilded a couple of trialists with some regulars starting on the bench but soon came to grips with their Irish hosts who were showing some pre- season jitters.
Quinn fired in a 20 yarder to give Queens the lead as both teams struggled to combat the monsoon conditions. Weatherston and McLaren sealed victory with further goals in the second half with Dungannon managing a consolation goal just at the death.
Queen's manager Brannigan once again tried out two trialists and several of the Youth players showed up well.
