THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT HAS BEEN RELEASED ON THE QUEEN OF THE SOUTH OFFICIAL WEBSITE
The Board of Directors and management of Queen of the South are aware that a senior first team player, Ryan McGuffie, is alleged to have been involved in an incident in Dumfries town centre on Saturday night. He subsequently made a court appearance today at Dumfries Sheriff Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
All staff of Queen of the South know the importance of reflecting the high standards we set for this club - both on and off the pitch - and we want to assure fans that we take any incidents involving our staff seriously. We have launched our own investigation and, if appropriate, any player who is found to have fallen below the high standards Queen of the South set ourselves will find themselves subject to disciplinary proceedings.
McGuffie's trial will take place on the 19 th March 2014 where he will face charges concerning incidents outside the Fleshers Arms public house last Saturday.
