KENNY Brannigan has demanded his team win their Alba and Co-op Cup ties this month REPORTS..Dumfries and Galloway Standard
Queens line-up in their first competitive match against Albion Rovers at Palmerston on Saturday.
Then Dumbarton come to town in the Co-op Cup next weekend.
And losing is not an option for the Doonhamers boss.
"Albion Rovers and Dumbarton - there is no two ways about it.
"We can't think about negativity, we won't even go down that road.
"That would be stupid."
Queens go into Saturday's match as solid favourites over the side who finished fifth in the third division last season.
But as Queens prepare for their tussle, Brannigan faces an early-season injury crisis with five players out.
He said: "We're ready for the season.
"I've got a starting eleven - but that's about it.
"I've got twelve players fit and that's it, truth be told.
"I don't know what I'm going to have come the weekend.
"The strength and depth in the team right now isn't happening.
"The starting eleven is fine, after that we're struggling."
But Brannigan is hoping to solve the shortage problems by bringing in more players before the league season starts.
He said: "I'm short of about three but the club is hopefully going to put that in place before the game against Dundee.
"There's a couple of weeks before then.
"The club's happy - I'm not particularly happy, but that's football.
"You've got to ride with the times.
"I've identified loads of players but we can't afford them.
"I've spoken to six or seven players, but the budgets have gone down and the price of players have gone up."
