McLAREN DESTINED FOR BIGGER THINGS SAYS MAGIC JOHNSTON

VETERAN Allan Johnston insists team-mate Willie McLaren is destined for bigger things after his wonder goal sealed the points for Queens.

McLaren bagged the third goal for the Doonhamers with a strike right out of the top drawer in the final minute of a one-sided encounter against Ross County at Palmerston.

It capped a terrific Queen of the South performance after goals from Rocco Quinn and on-loan Celtic man Ryan Conroy had them cruising.

And Johnston insists gaffer Kenny Brannigan will struggle to hold on to McLaren if he continues to display moments of sheer quality.

Magic said: "I enjoyed it, especially in the first half but I feel sorry for Rocco because everyone will have forgotten his goal after Willie's effort.

"He'll grab all the headlines and deservedly so. He's a great player and the manager can get the best out of him. But if keeps producing magic like that he'll not be here too long."

Delighted Palmerston gaffer Kenny Brannigan was also full of praise for McLaren's effort.
