ANDY AITKEN HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS ANNAN'S NEW ASSISTANT MANAGER
The Dumfries and Galloway Standard reports the club's recent signing agreed to take over the role from Derek Townsley who stepped aside a fortnight ago.
And for the former Queen's favourite it's bitter sweet opportunity. He told the Standard " I am really pleased to be getting a chance in this sort of role "
"I'm looking forward to continue in football, and was already looking forward to taking on some coaching responcibility,so it's great to get this opportunity" "I'm disappointed that Derek has stepped down. He was one of the reasons I wanted to come an play for Annan."
Aitken took over the managerial role last week and has been busy hunting for new signings ever since.
Aitken is also looking forward to working with Annan boss Harry Cairney whom he got to know quite well whilst training at Galabank last year.
Cairney told the Standard "Andy is the ideal candidate to do a similar job that Derek Townsley has done so well for the past two years"
Queens MAD wishes Andy every success in his new role at Annan.
