THE OS REPORTS
Kenny Brannigan refused to compare the 4-1 win against Annan to the Gretna game. The manager stressed, "After just coming back from six weeks off you just can`t assess performance levels over a couple of matches.
"However, I felt towards the end of the second half on Wednesday we had the right shape and were getting into the groove. The young lads we brought on were sharp and looked promising.
"We`re less than a week into the season and have already `lost` key players. David Lilley has been for a scan and I`m expecting him to be sidelined for about six weeks. Big Sean`s also out and that could be a five week job and I`m now down to just one keeper with David Hutton injured as well.
"We`re loads of players short so I`ll need to sit down with the Chairman and address the issue.
"We leave for Northern Ireland today to take on Dungannon Swifts. I played there many years ago and I`m looking forward to going back again. It will act as a good `bonding session` for us all but I`ll need to take some of the kids with me to boost the squad."
There is speculation that the old warhorse Jim Thomson may be drafted in to cover for the injured Lilley but this may also be an opportunity for some of the younger players to get their chance.
Willie McLaren will also miss the start of the season due to suspension.
