VETERAN Ayr stopper Jim Lauchlan waited 16 years to savour a bit of success - now he's cracking open the bubbly for the FOURTH time in just 18 months as he leads Ayr back to the 1st Division with a dramatic win over Brechin at Glebe Park.
The 34-year-old graced the SPL with Kilmarnock and Dundee United earlier in his career but never managed to win any honours.
But he's making up for lost time after lifting the Challenge Cup with Dundee in November 2009 then two trophies during a short spell with Irish side Sligo Rovers.
Now former Queens pivot Lauchlan is enjoying another party by helping the Honest Men see off Brechin to book a return to the First Division.
"The FAI Cup Final win over Shamrock Rovers was the best experience of my career."
"It was held at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and 36,000 fans turned up.
"Although I played at a higher level with Kilmarnock and Dundee United, I never managed a cup final. I was at Killie when we won the Cup in 1997 but missed the game."
"Then at Dundee United we made a few semi-finals but always seemed to come up against the Old Firm."
"I played 16 years and never won a medal until last term when Dundee beat Inverness in the Challenge Cup."
With Honest Men now back in the 1st Divsion,Queens fans can now look forward to visiting Somerset Park again one of the best away days in the league.
