Stirling Albion appoint John O'Neill as manager

JOHN O'NEILL last night took over as Stirling Albion boss - then said survival in the First Division was the priority.

After two years as assistant at Forthbank, the 36-year-old moved into the top job alongside coach Roddy Grant following the departure of Allan Moore to Morton.

O'Neill said: "I'm looking forward to it. I've worked with these players for two seasons now and we're going up to the First Division.

"We will be one of only two part-time teams, along with Cowdenbeath, so we know it's going to be difficult.

"This is a real challenge and it 's something I'm hoping to be successful at.

"Roddy has been invaluable in the time he's been here and I'm delighted we'll be staying together.

"It's a new era and Allan will be a hard act to follow but we want to survive in the First Division - that has to be our aim. We really want to establish ourselves at this level."
