QoS boss Gus MacPherson snaps up Stephen Simmons then tells him: You're too good for Division One
NEW Queen of the South manager Gus MacPherson yesterday signed former Hearts midfielder Stephen Simmons - and then told him he shouldn't even be at the club.
The 29-year-old, right, narrowly missed out on promotion to the SPL with Raith Rovers last season and former St Mirren boss MacPherson believes that's where he belongs.
He said: "I'm delighted to have Stephen on board but a player of his quality should not be in the First Division.
"He has a good physical presence and passes the ball well. I've no doubt he'll prove to people that he's more than capable of playing in the SPL.
"The good thing is that he has a hunger to play at a higher level."
