FORMER Ayr United boss Brian Reid has emerged as a front runner for the vacant Raith Rovers managerial position.
The Starks Park outfit are searching for a replacement for John McGlynn who spent six years in Kirkcaldy before being named the new Hearts boss on Tuesday.
Ex-Morton, Rangers and Queens defender Reid worked wonders with Ayr United on a shoestring budget during his four-year spell at Somerset Park.
It has been reported that the 41-year-old, whose contract was not renewed by the Honest Men last season, has applied for the vacant position.
Reid becomes the latest name in the Raith frame alongside former Rovers players Grant Murray, Colin Cameron, Laurie Ellis and Paul Hartley.
